Coinciding with the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination in 2017, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, UAE Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, gave his instructions to use the title “People of Determination in honor of People with Disabilities in the UAE community.
As such, the Ministry of Community Development designed a new logo of the people of determination to fit the new concept of disability; and represent them as productive and active members in the community. Unlike the stereotyped old logo, which portrayed stillness and dependency, the new logo does not have any sharp edges as an expression of flexibility for the people of determination to enjoy and accept the changes around them assimilate and encourage their inclusion into various areas of educational, practical and social life.
The new logo simplifies day-to-day services and facilities for the people of determination; it can also be used in places that give such services and accessible facilities for the people of determination. This makes it easier for them and their parents/guardians to apply for the appropriate service according to the type of disability. The new logo can be used in different places indicating these services: centers, clubs, people of determination associations, hotels, parks, restaurants and cafes, airports, parking areas, transportation, other recreational, cultural and social activities, to facilitate the lives of the people of determination in the community.
Commemorating and promoting the new logo of People of Determination, Emirates Post has issued a set of commemorative stamps.
