Description
AL BIDYAH MOSQU
Al Bidyah Mosque is built of stone and mud bricks, and is coated with several layers of white washed plaster. Architecturally, Al Bidyah Mosque is somewhat unique in the United Arab Emirates. Its distinctive structure, especially its roof consisting of four pointed domes and supported by an internal pillar, is unusual for religious architecture in the region. The Prayer hall has a small Mihrab and a small Minbar.
According to the radiocarbon analysis, the date of construction of the mosque maybe as early as 1446 AD.
Commemorating this unique specimen of Islamic architecture, Emirates Post has issued a set of commemorative stamps and a souvenir sheet on Al Bidyah Mosque.
