Description

7X, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has issued special commemorative stamps to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Dubai Metro.
Dubai Metro, inaugurated on September 9, 2009, stands as a hallmark of Dubai’s vision for sustainable and smart urban transport. This state-of-the-art, fully automated rail network serves as the backbone of the city’s public transit system. Environmental sustainability is a core aspect of the Metro’s operations, with the system designed to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions.
The Metro’s sleek, driverless trains traverse along two main lines, the Red and Green Lines, connecting key areas of Dubai with efficiency and ease. The Red Line, being the longest at 52.1 km, stretches from Al Rashidiya to Jebel Ali, passing through vital hubs such as the Dubai International Airport, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, and Mall of the Emirates. The Green Line, covering 22.5 km, links Etisalat station at Al Qusais to Dubai Creek, facilitating access to the historic and commercial heart of the city. A key feature of Dubai Metro is its integration with other modes of public transport, including buses, trams and marine transport, through strategically located interchange stations. This connectivity ensures a seamless travel experience across the city.
The trains are designed with various cabin types, such as Gold Class cabins, offering luxurious seating and panoramic views, as well as designated cabins for women and children. Stations are equipped with tactile guidance paths, wheelchair access and informative displays to ensure accessibility for all users.
Since its inception, Dubai Metro has consistently expanded, with new extensions such as the Route 2020 line. And the plan includes adding the Blue Line, stretching 30 kilometers, with a total of 14 stations by 2029. Dubai Metro’s impact on the city has been profound, with over 2 billion passengers being transported by 2023.
