To coincide with the 2006 Strategic Universal Postal Union Conference hosted by the United Arab Emirates, Emirates Post, in cooperation with the Emirates Philatelic Association, organised the 19th Asian International Stamp Exhibition in Dubai from 13 to 16 November 2006 under the patronage of the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP). The exhibition aimed to promote philately across the region and encourage greater interest in stamp collecting.
The exhibition featured four competitive classes: Traditional Philately, Postal History, One-Frame Exhibits, and Philatelic Literature.
Held at the Dubai International Airport Expo Centre, the event welcomed participation from more than 30 Asian countries, alongside 50 dealer and postal administration stands representing organisations from around the world. International security printers also showcased their expertise in stamp and banknote production. The programme included a philatelic auction as well as specialist lectures on postal history and the economics of stamp collecting.
Drawing thousands of visitors from diverse age groups, the exhibition highlighted Dubai’s growing role as a regional hub for philately. Emirates Post dedicated extensive resources and expertise to ensure the success of this landmark international event.
To commemorate the first time the United Arab Emirates hosted the exhibition, Emirates Post proudly issued a special set of commemorative stamps in AED 1 and AED 4 denominations, celebrating this important milestone in the history of philately and postal cooperation in the region.
