The flag of United Arab Emirates was adopted on December 2, 1971. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may God have mercy on him) raised it on the same day, declaring it the flag of the state of the United Arab Emirates, as a sovereign independent State.
The national flag`s colors are red, green, white and black, which symbolize Arab unity and its height is half of his width. At the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai (may God protect him), a national comprehensive campaign will be conducted to celebrate Flag Day to mark the anniversary of H. H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan (may God protect him), taking charge as the President of state, through a number of programs of hoisting the national flag by the people all the emirates.
The idea of His Highness to hoist the national flag on buildings of all federal departments and ministries simultaneously represents a gesture to unity throughout the land and shows the extent of His Highness` keenness to engage the present generation in the important task building and developing the country for the future.
This initiative aims to strengthen the position of the people of the United Arab Emirates, through the service of the nation, and boost his loyalty and association with the wise leadership as well as strengthen his love for his native country and pride in its achievements, which are appreciated by the whole world.
Raising the Flag of the country on the anniversary of H. H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan taking charge as President of the State, is a symbol of love and respect among the people, the leaders and the homeland, since there is no more dignified expression that of raising the national flag everywhere on this glorious day to celebrate the love of the people of the United Arab Emirates for his Highness, the President of the Country, as demonstration of their love for the leader, who gives first priority to providing a decent life for all.
