Stamps- Eid Al Adha

Eid Al Adha is one of the most important occasions on the Islamic calendar. Emirates Post is commemorating this great festival by issuing a set of commemorative stamps in two denominations, along with a distinctive souvenir sheet, inspired by significance of the event. Eid Al Adha falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Eid Al Adha is God’s gift to worshippers, and it carries with it a taste of reward and happiness. God has made it a symbol for Muslims, and a reward for those who obey Him, because they answered a call from God in the Holy Quran by performing the most important ritual of the pilgrimage, that is, the sacrifice of a goat, and sharing the meat with the poor and relatives.

The most beautiful aspect of Eid Al Adha is the joy on the faces of young children, reflecting hope, joy and wonderful ideas. And the joy of pilgrims as they lift their voices in praise and thanksgiving immediately after the Eid prayers. Every Muslim greets his Muslim brother, saying “May God answer our prayers” and the other replies, “May happiness follow you year after year”. The page of the past year is turned and a new year begins, filled with joy and happiness.
