The UAE will host a unique historic inter-faith meeting this February. The country was chosen by His Holiness Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al Azhar Dr. Ahmed el-Tayeb as the location of the “Human Fraternity Meeting” to discuss promoting interreligious dialogue, coexistence and human fraternity.
The Human Fraternity Meeting coincides with the UAE’s announcement of 2019 as the Year of Tolerance. It highlights the UAE’s position as a country in which more than 200 nationalities from different religions, ethnicities and creeds live in harmony. It is a global capital for tolerance, coexistence and human fraternity.
It is no coincidence that two of the world’s most prominent religious figures have chosen the UAE as a place to discuss the promotion of world peace and human fraternity. The UAE has a long legacy in the active promotion of coexistence and understanding among its people who belong to all religions and races.
The visit of His Holiness and His Eminence the Grand Imam to the UAE will coincide with the international Interfaith Meeting on Human Fraternity which will be held in Abu Dhabi on February 3 and 4. The meeting will be attended by 700 leaders and thinkers from different religions and faiths who will convene to discuss world peace, religions coexistence and the rejection of extremism.
The historic visit will culminate in the issuing of the Abu Dhabi Declaration for Human Fraternity which will be signed by both His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam marking a new era for humanity – helping ensure better future for the world from the capital of the UAE.
