Description
“The Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant is the first nuclear power station in the Arab World designed to create energy in a safe, reliable and environmentally friendly manner, increasing energy production whilst reducing the United Arab Emirates’ carbon footprint. It provides 25% of the Emirates’ electricity needs, and will do so for 60 years. This has helped the UAE achieve its climate change goals by reducing 21 million tons of carbon emissions annually, the equivalent of removing 3.2 million cars from the roads annually.
Barakah supports the economic and social growth of the Nation as it provides valuable jobs to more than 3000 employees. It has also awarded contracts to more than 2000 local companies at a value of more than AED 17.5 Billion.
Emirates Post in collaboration with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation has issued a distinctive stamp set to commemorate this milestone in the UAE’ roadmap for sustainable development.
