Emirates Post, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has issued a special set of commemorative stamps showcasing breathtaking landscapes of Liwa Oasis – one of the United Arab Emirates’ most captivating natural treasures.

Nestled in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, Liwa Oasis holds deep historical and cultural significance as the ancestral homeland of the distinguished Bani Yas tribe. The region is adorned with majestic sand dunes and historic forts that stand as timeless symbols of its rich heritage.

Positioned along the northern edge of the Rub’ al Khali, the world’s largest continuous sand desert, Liwa Oasis thrives on groundwater sources that have sustained its people for generations. This natural abundance has nurtured thriving palm groves and fertile farmland, creating a stunning contrast between the lush greenery and the surrounding golden-red dunes.

Stretching gracefully for over 100 kilometres from east to west, Liwa Oasis is home to some of the tallest sand dunes in the world, many rising more than 150 metres high. A destination of extraordinary beauty and history, Liwa remains one of the UAE’s most remarkable natural and cultural landmarks.
